Fuel Cell Vehicles explained
The innovation, purity and safety of hydrogen: Wonder how fuel cell vehicles work? Curious about their safety? Get a better understanding about this brilliant-yet often misunderstood-technology.
System: Although you refuel them with hydrogen, fuel cell vehicles are actually powered by an electric motor. The hydrogen in the fuel tanks travels to the fuel-cell stack. Inside the stack, the hydrogen undergoes an electrochemical reaction with oxygen that's collected through the air intake. This process generates electricity which either directly powers the motor or is stored in the battery for future use.

From hydrogen to energy: Inside the fuel cell stack, a catalyst splits the hydrogen atoms into protons and electrons. The electrons flow as electrical current to the motor which powers NEXO. The protons pass through a membrane where they combine with electrons and oxygen atoms to form water, the only fuel cell vehicle emission.

Safer than other fuels: Despite public misconception, hydrogen energy is quite safe, even safer than other fuels. It's one reason why Hyundai has been committed to fuel cell vehicles for over 20 years. To ensure the utmost safety, hydrogen fuel is stored inside highly durable carbon-fiber tanks tested to withstand extreme heat and collisions. Plus, hydrogen is the lightest element, so even if it leaks from the tank, it disperses quickly into the air, making the chances of a fire very low.

Hyundai SmartSense
Premium Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA): This feature enables your Hyundai to park itself, even when you're not inside. It can parallel park, or back into and pull out of a parking space with a press and hold of your Smart Key button.
Lane Following Assist (LFA): Using the front-view camera to detect lane markers on the road, this feature assists the driver's steering to help keep the vehicle centered inside the lane.
Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection (FCA-Ped): When the system detects a vehicle or pedestrian in your path, it warns you of a potential collision. If you don't stop in time, the system may automatically apply braking.

Driver Attention Warning (DAW): To help prevent potential accidents, this system monitors your driving patterns to detect drowsy or inattentive driving. Once detected, it alerts you with a sound cue coupled with a warning message on the instrument cluster.
Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA): If your Hyundai detects a vehicle in your blind spot while your turning signal's on, it will alert you and may automatically steer the vehicle back into the lane.
High Beam Assist (HBA): Constantly turning your high beams off and on can be a hassle, which is why this thoughtful feature automatically does it for you. It can detect oncoming vehicles and toggle between high and low beams accordingly.
Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Stop & Go: While traveling at a speed set by you, it uses radar to help maintain a safe distance from the car ahead. After the system slows the vehicle to a stop, it will reactivate if the vehicle in front moves within 3 seconds.

Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA): When you're going in reverse, it lets you know if its sensors detect a vehicle approaching from the left or right. It may even apply the brakes automatically if needed.
Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM): When signaling to change lanes, Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM) assists the driver by providing a live camera feed of either side of the vehicle on the digital instrument gauge display and an audible alert if another vehicle is detected.
