The 2018 Hyundai Sonata Earns the IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus Rating

An enjoyable drive can only be further punctuated by safety, and the 2018 Hyundai Sonata is ready to deliver both in Miami. How do we know? Because the Sonata has been named a Top Safety Pick Plus, the highest safety rating available from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

In order to earn the IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus rating, a vehicle is evaluated in five crash tests (driver-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints), front crash prevention, and headlights. It must earn a "good" rating for the five crash tests, an "advanced" or "superior" rating for front crash prevention, and an "acceptable" or "good" rating for headlights.

Not only is the Sonata prepared to protect you in the event of an accidents, but it utilizes an array of safety technologies to prevent accidents from even happening. Like Lane Keep Assist that will warn you if you start to drift out of your lane, and can even apply corrective steering. Or Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection which can sense if you're approached a slowing vehicle or pedestrian too quickly, alert you, and even apply the brakes.
